Comments on development

  • MINE WORKED BEFORE 1909, BUT PROBABLY AFTER 1900. IN 1918 THE STOCKWOOD REALITY CO. LEASED THE MINE AND SANK TWO SHAFTS, WITH DRIFTS. FAVORABLE CONDITIONS WERE REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN FOUND BUT NO MINING WAS DONE. MINE WAS WORKED IN 1928 AND 2 CARLOADS OF HIGH GRADE CHEMICAL ORE WAS SHIPPED.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit DEPOSIT IS IN THE SAME ORE ZONE AND SAME SYNCLINE AS THE POWELLS FORT MINE. SOFT, BLUE PYROLUSITE OCCURS IN POCKETS AND THE ORE CRUMBLES TO POWDER ON TOUCHING, MAKING MINING DIFFICULT.
Deposit Discovery Year: EARLY 1900'S (?)
