  • STRIPPINGS OR IRREGULAR OPEN CUTS: 30 FEET BY 70, TEN DEEP AT BACK; 100 FEET SOUTH AND 3 FEET BELOW IS ANOTHER CUT 30 FEET LONG AND TEN DEEP. STREAKS OF TALLOW CLAY OF RED, PINK, YELLOW, AND WHITE, UP TO FOUR FEET THICK, WERE EXPOSED IN THIS 2ND CUT. ON THE WEST SIDE OF COON HOLLOW, NEAR THE BOTTOM, THERE WAS FOUND AN OPEN DRIFT, AND FURTHER DOWN THE HOLLOW IS A SHAFT SAID TO BE 70 FEET DEEP AND AN OPEN CUT IN THE BED OF A SIDE STREAM. THE SHAFT WAS SAID TO BE GENERALLY BARREN.
