Deposit THE DEPOSIT IS ON THE EAST SIDE OF A TERTIARY BASIN. THE MINE COVERS AN AREA OF OVER 5 SQ KM. THE BORATE HORIZON LENSOID IS REPORTEDLY ASSOCIATED WITH TRAVERTINE MOUND. THERE ARE 3 TYPES OF ORE: LAYERED (THE MOST COMMON); BRECCIA ORE; AND A CRYSTALLINE GLASSY ORE OF VERY HIGH PURITY. THE TINCAL (BORAX) IS LAYERED WITH LACUSTRINE SEDIMENTS AND OCCURS AT DEPTHS OF 2 TO 150 M (AVERAGE OVERBURDEN THICKNESS IS 70 M). SEQUENCE HERE IS THOUGHT TO BE CYCLIC-- CARBONATE, BORATE, CARBONATE.
