Deposit STONE WAS QUARRIED RIGHT ON THE LAKESHORE. IN THE MID 1800'S AND EARLY 1900'S MOST OF THE MARBLE WAS TAKEN TO SWANTON, VT TO BE SAWED. THE STONE WAS EXTENSIVELY USED FOR BRIDGE PIERS AS WELL. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
Deposit QUARRIED BEDS CONTAINING THE FOSSIL MACLURITES MAGNUS. THESE ARE RECRYSTALLIZED AND WHEN SAWED PRODUCE SPIRAL PATTERNS ON THE POLISHED SLAB.
