  • IT CONSISTED OF ONE OPEN PIT AND ONE SHAFT, BOTH OF WHICH ARE FLOODED. THE SHAFT LIES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF THE PIT AND THE ORE HAS BEEN FOLLOWED FOR A DISTANCE OF 900 FT TO A DEPTH OF 185 FT

  • IT WAS FIRST EXPLORED BY GEORGE PARISH AND THEN CAME TO THE POSSESION OF JAMES STERLING 1836 UNTILL 1869 WHEN IT WAS AQUIRED BY THE JEFFERSON IRON CO. THEN LATER IN 1899 IT WAS RUN BY ANOTHER COMPANY
