  • BY 1876 MAIN PIT WAS 80 FEET DEEP WHICH HIT A 10 FOOT WIDE ORE BODY AT THE BOTTOM. PIT WAS ABANDONED IN FALL OF 1877 AND WORKINGS WERE TRANSFERED TO A NEW PIT 30 YDS TO WEST, WAS 60 FEET DEEP BY 400 FEET LONG BY 80 FEET WIDE IN 1879. IN 1906 A 65 FOOT DEEP SHAFT WAS SUNK WITH A 65 FOOT LONG DRIFT LARGEST PRODUCER OF LIMONITE IN NEW JERSEY
