Comments on the workings information

  • IN 1879 THE MAIN SHAFT WAS 25 FEET DEEP AND WAS LOCATED WEST OF THE ORIGINAL 1873 OPENINGS. THERE WAS MUCH WATER IN THE SHAFT BUT PUMPING WAS DONE BY WATER POWER USING A 3" PUMP. 1985 3 LARGE SHAFTS WITH SMALLER CONNECTING PITS ARE EVIDENT. SHAFTS ARE 25 YDS WEST OF STREAM. PART OF A WATER PUMP PIPE STILL IN MAIN SHAFT ALONG WITH A DRAINAGE DITCH RUNNING FROM IT TO THE STREAM. GOOD QUALITY ARE CAN BE FOUND AROUND SHAFTS

Comments on development

  • FIRST EXPLORED IN 1873. IN 1874 IT WAS FURTHER EXPLORED AND DEPOSIT WAS SAID TO BE LARGE & PROMISING. MORE OPENINGS WERE MADE IN THE FOLLOWING YEARS. TOO FAR FROM RAILROAD TO BE OPERATED PROFITABLY
