Deposit THE SHAFT IS SAID TO HAVE BEEN SUNK TO 60 FT IN LATE 1880'S BUT CAVED WHILE BEING SUNK; A TUNNEL WAS STARTED W FROM THE W BANK OF THE UNAMED CREEK BUT DID NOT REACH SHAFT. (ESPENSHADE,1954,P.92) LIMONITE IS SAID TO HAVE BEEN MINED "ON THE CHRISTIAN PROPERTY, ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE (JAMES) RIVER (FURCRON,1935,P 103).
Deposit THIS APPEARS TO BE A FAILED PROSPECT. IT IS NOT CLEAR WHETHER LIMONITE WAS EVER PRODUCED FROM THIS PROPERTY OR FROM A NEARBY TRACT. HALF MILE SW OF CHRISTIAN PROS., AT 1000 FT W OF RT 622 IS OLD SHALLOW PIT W- SCATTERED NODULAR MN ORE.
