  • CALLAHAN STATED THAT A NUMBER OF SMALL PITS AND TRENCHES WERE DUG ON THE HILLSIDE. HE RECALLED THE PITS BEING PARTIALLY FILLED IN AND ABOUT 3 TO 4 FT DEEP. FIELD EXAMINATION WAS CONDUCTED 8/27/86. NO WORKINGS WERE FOUND IN THE FIELD. APPARENTLY, THE WORKINGS WERE FILLED IN AND GRADED LEVEL FOR FARM LAND.

  • NO RECORD OF THIS PROSPECT IS FOUND IN THE LITERATURE. CALLAHAN STATED THIS WAS THE FIRST PROSPECT TO BE WORKED IN THE AREA, SOMETIME BEFORE 1915 AND LONG BEFORE WORK ON THE F.M. VAUGHT MINE (PRE-1938), LOCATED BEHIND HIS HOUSE. NO PRODUCTION; EXPLORATION WAS LIMITED TO SMALL PITS AND TRENCHES.

Deposit NO RECORD OF THIS PROSPECT WAS FOUND IN THE LITERATURE. BOGE CALLAHAN (PERSONAL COMMUNICATION 1986) STATED THE PROPERTY WAS PROSPECTED BEFORE 1915. HE HAD OPERATED FARM EQUIPMENT IN THIS FIELD WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER AND IDENTIFIED THE EXACT LOCATION ON THE HILLSIDE WHERE THE WORKINGS HAD BEEN LOCATED. HE REFERRED TO IT IS THE "MINE HOLE FIELD." THE WORKINGS HAVE SINCE BEEN FILLED IN AND GRADED LEVEL AND IS NOW IN AN OPEN PASTURE AND CULTIVATED FARM FIELD.
