  • OUTPUT IN MARCH 1880 WAS 50-75 TONS PER DAY (KIMBALL, 1881) MORE THAN 50 WORKINGS OCCUR WITHIN 1.5 MILES OF RIVERVILLE. SEVERAL THOUSAND TONS SHIPPED TO WESTHAM FURNACE (ESPENSHADE, P.140).

Deposit ORE IS DARK GREY TO BLACK FINE GRAINED, MASSIVE SPECULAR HEMATITE ORE AND INTERLAYERED WITH "MOTHEATEN" LEACHED CALCAREOUS QUARTZITE AND QUARTZ CONGLOMERATE WITH BLUE QUARTZ CLASTS. ALSO TAN TO GREY PHYLLITE WITH DISSEMINATED MARTITE AND MICACEOUS QUARTZITE. ORE IS PART BANDED IRON FORMATION.
