Comments on development

  • ECON.COM: THE POTENTIAL (1984) IS GOOD, BOTH FOR INCREASING THE TONNAGE OF THE KNOWN DEPOSITS AND FOR LOCATING NEW, BLIND DEPOSITS ELSEWHERE IN THE DISTRICT; FURTHER DETAILED WORK IS REQUIRED. UNDERGROUND DEVELOPMENT, TO INVESTIGATE GRADE MINERALIZATION AT DEPTH IN OREBODY 4, IS PLANNED.

Deposit FOUR BODIES OF MASSIVE, DESSEMINATED-BRECDIA AND STRINGER TYPE SULPHIDES, CONSISTING MAINLY OF PYRITE AND PYRRHOTITE, WITH ACCESSORY CHALCOPYRITE AND SPHALERITE AND SUBORDINATE GALENA AND TELLURIDES, OCCUR AT OR NEAR THE TOP OF A PILE OF PREDOMINANTLY FRAGMENTAL FELSIC VOLCANIC ROCKS. THEY OCCUPY A BED MARKED BY CHEMICAL SEDIMENTS - CHERT, JASPER, CHARBONATES AND SULPHIDES - OVERLAIN BY ARGILLITES, RHYOLITIC FLOWS, IGNIMBRITES AND FINE-GRAINED CRYSTAL AND LAPILLI TUFFS. THE MINERALIZATION APPEARS TO BE RELATED TO SCHISTOSE QUARTZ-PORPHYROIDAL ROCKS AND A NEARBY RHYOLITIC PROTRUSION.
