Comments on the geologic information

  • Small tonnages of mineralization is hosted by gently dipping beds of dark-gray and dark-green shale. The "red shale" of the Red Gulch Mine (to the south of this mine) probably lies 200 feet stratigraphically above this horizon (Lindgren, 1908). The ore is low grade. The small Acme deposit is located close to the Queen Princess. Lindrgen (1908) reported both to be "half a mile north of Springfield", which was a tiny settlement in the valley of Red Creek.
