  • ACCORDING TO ROBERTS (1944), THE JASPER GRADES INTO UNALTERED SHALE ALONG STRIKE AND THE SHALE IS BOUNDED ON BOTH SIDES BY BASALT. KUYPERS AND DENYER (1979) CLAIM THAT THE HOST ROCK IS BASALT AND THAT SMALL DIAMETER JASPER PIPES, GENERALLY NOT MANGANIFEROUS, CROSSCUT THE BASALT WITH WELL-DEFINED BOUNDARIES.

Deposit RED AND YELLOW JASPER ZONE ABOUT 6 M WIDE CROPS OUT ON THE BEACH AND CONTAINS MN OXIDES. THE ORE IS GENERALLY LOW GRADE EXCEPT FOR A LENS OF PSILOMELANE 1 M LONG AND UP TO 30 CM WIDE.
