Deposit DESCRIBED AS A 6-FT COPPER SHALE IN RED CLAY, BELOW 6 FT OF BLUE CLAY AND 33 FT OF RED SHALE BELOW 18 INCHES OF SOIL. THE COPPER-CLAY HAD STUMPS, ROOTS, AND FERNS.
Deposit BUCKLEY (1874, P. 36) MENTIONS THAT A 6-FT COPPER CLAY WAS FOUND IN JOHN PRESTON'S WELL, AT 40.5-46.5 FT, 2.5 MI SE OF NEW HENRIETTA.
