  • THIS PIT IS ONE OF MANY THAT WERE DUG IN VICINITY IN EFFORT TO LOCATE SOURCE OF PLACER GOLD THAT WAS MINED AT COOPER TRACT (DEPOSIT NO. 70). PIT MAY HAVE BEEN DUG ON BASIS OF VEIN QUARTZ FLOAT.
