  • THE DOWELLTOWN MEMBER IS SUBDIVIDED INTO UNITS A (LOWER) AND B (UPPER). THE OVERLYING GASSAWAY MEMBER IS SUBDIVIDED INTO UNIT C (LOWER), UNIT D (MIDDLE), AND UNIT E (UPPER). THE GASSAWAY MENBER CONTAINS THE MOST URANIUM IN THE FORMATION, AND THE UPPER UNIT IS THE RICHEST. THE CHATTANOOGA SHALE IS CONSIDERED AS A LOW-GRADE OIL SHALE.

Result FLUORIMETRIC ANALYSIS SHOWS THAT THE URANIUM CONTENT OF UNIT E IS 0.0054%.STOCKDALE AND KLEPSER (1959) STATE THAT THE OIL CONTENT OF THE GASSAWAY MENBER RANGES FROM 5.60 TO 11.30 GAL./TON.
