Ore body information

  • Name GLAVNAYA VEIN
    General form LODE, VEIN

Controls for ore emplacement

  • Horizontal Displacement Of Blocks Along Curved, Steeply-Dipping Fractures. Gold Ore Has Been Localized In The Nodes Of Intersecting Faults.

Comments on the geologic information

  • THE COUNTRY ROCKS WERE INTRUDED IN SEVEN PHASES: GABBRO-PERIDOTITES, DIORITES, GRANODIORITES, PORPHYRY-LIKE GRANITES, SYENITES & QUARTZ SYENITES, LEUCOCRATIC GRANITES, AND GRANITE PORPHYRIES. THE FIRST SIX PHASES ARE CONSIDERED PRE-JURASSIC, AND THE LAST IS POST-JURASSIC. ORE BODIES ARE ASSOCIATED WITH DIKES OF GRANITE PORPHYRIES. MORE THAN 50 LODES AND HUNDRED OF VEINLETS ARE KNOWN. LODES STRIKING E-NE ARE OF COMPLEX COMPOSITION AND ECONOMICALLY IMPORTANT. VEINS STRIKING E-W CONSIST MAINLY OF ARSENOPYRITE, AND VEINS STRIKING NW-NS REPRESENT THE EARLIST FORMATION AND ARE NOT ECONOMICALLY SIGNIFICANT. THE ECONOMIC VEINS CAN BE TRACED ALONG STRIKE FOR HUNDREDS OF METERS. FOR EXAMPLE, THE GLAVNAYA VEIN EXTENDS FOR 2 KM AND RANGES FROM TENS OF CM TO 1 M IN THICKNESS. BANDED AND BRECCIATED ORES INDICATE REPEATED REOPENING OF ORE-BEARING FRACTURES AND SUPERPOSITION OF MINERALIZED STAGES. THE MINERALIZATION DEVELOPED IN SEVEN STAGES: 1. QUARTZ-TOURMALINE 2. QUARTZ-PYRITE 3.
  • PYRITE-ARSENOPYRITE 4. GALENA-SPHALERITE 5. PYRRHOTITE-TETRAHEDRITE-CHALCOPYRITE 6. QUARTZ-SULPHOANTIMONITE AND 7. CARBONATE. THE FIFTH AND THE SIXTH STAGES WERE THE MAIN ORE BEARING PHASES. DISTRIBUTION OF MINERAL ASSOCIATIONS IS CONCENTRICALLY ZONED (AS WELL AS OVERLAPPING) AROUND PIPE-LIKE BODIES OF PLAGIOGRANITE-PORPHYRIES AND ASSOCIATED EXPLOSION BRECCIAS. THE DEPOSIT FORMED OVER A WIDE TEMPERATURE RANGE, BUT THE MAIN AURIFEROUS STAGES WERE WITHIN THE INTERMEDIATE RANGE.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit ABOUT 200 QUARTZ-SULFIDE VEINS ARE KNOWN IN THE AREA OF THE DARASUN DEPOSIT. E-NE OR E-W VEINS ARE THE MOST ECONOMICALLY SIGNIFICANT - RUNNING SEVERAL HUNDRED METERS IN LENGTH AND PRIMARILY DIPPING STEEPLY SOUTHWARD.
