Deposit BETWEEN RIMS OF UNCOMPAHGRE AND LAKE CITY CALDERAS, DEPOSIT LIES IN INFILL SEQUENCE COMPOSED OF EUREKA MEMBER RHYOLITE OVERLYING AND PROBABLY INTERBEDDED WITH CALDERA COLLAPSE BRECCIA, CONSISTING OF CHAOTIC MASSES OF PRECALDERA INTERMEDIATE-COMPOSITION ROCKS INTERPRETED TO BE REULT OF SLUMPING FROM OVERSTEEPENED CALDERA WALLS DURING INITIAL SUBSIDENCE. DEPOSIT APPEARS TO BE TRANSVERSE VEIN LOCATED IN SLACK'S (1980) QUARTZ/BASE-METAL ASSEMBLAGE, OUTER CARBONATE-TETRAHEDRITE ZONE AND IS CHARACTERIZED BY MASSIVE ORE-STAGE CARBONATE--CALCITE IN CONTRAST TO RHODOCHROSITE COMMON AT MINES IN INNER ZONES.
