  • GEOL.DESC: A CHERT BED BEARING IRON AND MANGANESE OXIDES, 7 TO 15 FT. THICK, IS UNDERLAIN BY THIN BEDDED CHERT AND SHALE, AND BASALT, AND OVERLAIN BY BASALT. RED CHERT IS STAINED WITH RED IRON OXIDE AND MANGANESE OXIDE AND IN PLACES GRADES INTO A SILICEOUS HEMATITE ORE BEARING MANGANESE AS STAINS AND SMALL VEINS.
