Comments on the geologic information

  • GEOL.DESC: MANGANESE LIES IN BELT OF RED AND PURPLE THIN-BEDDED CHERTS 600 FT. IN WIDTH AND AT LEAST 2500 FT. LONG. CHERT STRIKES N. W. AND IS NEARLY VERTICAL. CHERT IS BOUNDED ON BOTH SIDES BY GREENSTONE AND SEEMINGLY IS A LARGE ROOF PENDANT IN THIS PLUTONIC BODY, BUT IT LINES UP ALONG STRIKE WITH SIMILAR BODIES TO S. E. CHERT IS COVERED BY MANGANESE FILMS IN PLACES, AND IN PLACES MANGANESE IS CONCENTRATED IN LENTICULAR MASSES. ORE IS OXIDIZED TO DEPTH OF 3 FT. PRIMARY ORE IS MAINLY MANGANIFEROUS CHERT, BUT SOME RHODONITE IS PRESENT.
