| Deposit | ROCKS ARE STRONGLY HYDROTHERMALLY ALTERED. SAMPLE IS OF ARGILLIZED BRECCIA CEMENTED BY GREY SILICA WITH ABUNDANT ROCK FLOUR, ALMOST MYLONITIC, WITH SOME MILLING EVIDENT. ROCKS EXHIBIT PLATY PARTINGS ALONG FLOW BANDS. MOST OF THE MAFICS ARE GONE AND A FEW GLASSY FRAGMENTS REMAIN. A FEW MNOZ SPOTS STAIN SURFACES, MINOR LIMONTE STAINS, AND VERY FINE SILICEOUS VEINLETS CUT ACROSS ALL SURFACES AND STRUCTURES. ROCKS SHOW SEVERAL STAGES OF ALTERATION AND FAULTING. ROCKS OUTCROPPING ABOVE THE PIT ARE MORE CRYSTALRICH. IN PIT, PROMINENT VERTICAL N-S FAULTING IS CUT BY INTERSECTING VERTICAL N30W SHEARS. PLATY PARTINGS (FLOW PATTERNS?) ARE GENERALLY HORIZONTAL BUT TEND TO DIP N. SILICA HAS FILLED IN BETWEEN THE PARTINGS AND PRODUCES LOCALIZED WAVY TEXTURES. MINOR CHLORITIC ALTERATIONIC PRESENT. ROCKS OBSERVED IN FLOAT INCLUDE HYDROTHERMAL BRECCIA, OBSIDIAN NODULES, AND OTHER EXTRUSIVE ROCKS. EUHEDRAL QUARTZ CRYSTALS FILL VUGS AND FRACTURES OF VOLCANICS. |
