  • THE DAISY GROUP OF CLAIMS IS LESS THAN ONE-HALF MILE NORTH OF LAKE CRESCENT IN THE OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK. THE CLAIMS ARE REACHED BY WAY OFTHE CRESCENT-MINE ROAD TO AN ABANDONED RAILROAD ROADBED, WHICH CONTINUES EASTWARD 1.1 MILES TO A JEEP ROAD LEADING UP AN UNNAMED GULCH ONE-HALF MILE TO THE WORKINGS ON THE DAISY NO. 2 CLAIM. THE DAISY NO. 3 WORKINGS ARE 1,000 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE BULLDOZER TRENCH ON THE DAISY NO. 2 CLAIM. PRINCIPAL WORKINGS ON THE SEVERAL CLAIMS RANGE IN ELEVATION FROM 1460 TO 1920 FEET.

  • SMALL PITS ARE SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE DAISY GROUP; HOWEVER, ONLY WORKINGS ON THE DAISY NOS. 2 AND 3 DISCLOSED MANGANESE MINERALIZATION. THE PRINCIPAL COUNTRY ROCKS ARE PARTLY ALTERED BASALT AND RED SEDIMENTARY ROCKS GRADING FROM IMPURE LIMESTONE TO ARGILLITE.

Deposit DAISEY NO. 2: RED ARGILLITE FORMS A CONTACT WITH ALTERED BASALT IN THE HIGH SIDE OF AN OPEN CUT. A MN ZONE IS EXPOSED FOR A LENGTH OF 10 FT. DAISEY NO. 3: THE ADIT HAS EXPOSED A LENS OF RED SEDIMENTARY ROCK THAT IS INTERBEDDED IN PILLOW BASALT FLOWS. MINERALS ON BOTH CLAIMS ARE MIXED MANGANESE OXIDES AND HYDROUS MANGANESE MANGANESE MINERALIZATION UNDERGROUND APPEARS LIMITED TO LESS THAN 2 FEET IN ANY DIRECTION. ADDITIONAL MANGANESE MINERALIZATION IS PRESENT AS A BOULDERLIKE MASS IN THE SLOUGHED PIT DIRECTLY ABOVE THE UNDERGROUND WORKINGS. THE BOULDER COVERS AN AREA OF 4 SQUARE FEET AND IS 2 FEET THICK.
