  • WHEN THE ORIGINAL OPEN PIT WAS BEING WORKED, 1-1.5 LBS/WEEK OF AU WAS PRODUCED.

  • THE MINE WAS ORIGINALLY WORKED AS AN OPEN PIT, APPROXIMATELY 1 SQ KM IN AREA, BUT WAS LATER WORKED LESS INTENSELY THROUGH A SYSTEM OF SMALLER PITS. THE ALLUVIAL DEPOSIT HAS ONLY BEEN WORKED THROUGH APPROXIMATELY 15% OF THE TOTAL EXTENT. THE OLD OPEN PIT AND SMALLER PITS ARE NOW ALL PARTIALLY BURIED.

Deposit BUENAVENTURA (1975) REPORTS THAT THE PLACER IS HAS GOOD ECONOMIC PERSPECTIVES, DUE TO THE EXTENT OF THE DEPOSIT, AND ITS GOLD CONTENT. MORE EXPLORATION IS RECOMMENDED.
Deposit ALLUVIUM DEPOSIT EXTENDS OVER APPROX. 18 SQ. KM AND IS 8 M THICK. THE PLACER DEPOSIT IS AN ALLUVIAL CONGLOMERATE WHICH CONSISTS OF IGNEOUS AND SEDIMENTARY CLASTS ENCASED IN A CLAYEY MATRIX WHERE GOLD FLAKES AND NUGGETS ARE FOUND.
