Deposit THE PLACER DEPOSIT IS IN A RECENT ALLUVIAL CONGLOMERATE THAT CONSISTS OF IGNEOUS INTRUSIVE AND MILKY QUARTZ CLASTS IN A MATRIX OF CLAYEY SAND. SMALL OXIDIZED BELTS ARE OBSERVED IN THE MATRIX, AND THIS IS WHERE GOLD FLAKES AND OTHER HEAVY MINERALS ARE FOUND. THE CONGLOMERATE AVERAGES 5 KM IN THICKNESS.
Deposit BUENAVENTURA (1975) REPORTS THAT IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE ONLY SMALL REMANENTS WITH LOW GOLD CONTENT LEFT OF THE DEPOSIT.
