Deposit LATERITE PROFILE IS ABOUT 50 M DEEP AND CONSISTS OF (1) UP TO 1.2 M OF YELLOW TOP SOIL THAT CONTAINS FRAGMENTS OF DURICRUSTS AND BAUXITE, (2) ORE 5.0 M THICK IRON CONCRETION HORIZON FE-OXIDES AND HYDROXIDES WITH CLAY, QUARTZ MATRIX, (3) UP TO 6 M THICK BAUXITE HORIZON, (4) 40-45 M SAPROLITE HORIZON, CLAYEY MATERIAL, QUARTZ, FELDSPER; QUARTZ VEINS, SHISTOCITY PRESERVED. GOLD OCCURS IN HORIZONS (1) AND (2) AND RANGES FROM 0.05 TO 3.49 PPM AU, MOST VALUES GREATER THAN 1.0 PPM OCCUR IN YELLOW SOIL (39% OF THE ANALYSES). HIGHEST AU CONTENTS ARE IN THE LESS THAN 500 MICRON AND 125-63 MICRON SOIL FRACTIONS. AU PARTICLES AVERAGE 75 MICRONS, HAVE SHARP CORNERS, SMOOTH SURFACES, AND ARE COMMONLY INTERGROWN WITH QUARTZ. DEPOSIT DEVELOPED BY WEATHERING OF AU-GOLD QUARTZ VEINS IN GNEISS.
