  • A DRAG LINE DREDGE WAS ASSEMBLED ON THE PLACER IN 1940 . IT OPERATED INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL 1942 WHEN OPERATIONS WERE SUSPENDED DUE TO WWII. INTERMITTENT OPERATION WAS RESUMED IN 1946 BUT WAS NOT CONTINUED IN 1947 .
