Comments on development

  • PRIOR TO CONSOLIDATION WITH PARK UTAH CONSOLIDATED MINES IN THE 1920'S, THE DALY-JUDGE PROPERTY COMPRISED 138 PATENTED CLAIMS COVERING AN AREA 4000 FT BY 15000 FT, AND INCLUDED THE OLD UTAH MINE, WHITE PINE MINE, ANCHOR MINE, AND THE JONES CLAIMS. ORE WAS STRUCK IN A 100 FT SHAFT ON THE WHITE PINE MINE AS EARLY AS 1878 WITH PRODUCTION STARTING IN 1881. ANCHOR SHAFT STARTED IN 1885. IN 1888 A DRAIN TUNNEL, 6600 FT LONG WITH A PORTAL IN EMPIRE CANYON, WAS STARTED. DRAIN TUNNEL COMPLETED BY 1890 AND MINING RESUMED. ACTIVE MINING CONTINUED UNTIL THE 1920'S. INTERMITTENT MINING UNTIL 1950 OR 1951. CURRENTLY PART OF UNITED PARK CITY MINES CO. HOLDINGS

Deposit BOTH BEDDED AND REPLACEMENT ORES PRESENT. REPLACEMENT ORES LOCATED SOUTHEAST OF THE DALY-ONTARIO FAULT ZONE FOR A DISTANCE OF UP TO 1500 FT. REPLACED HORIZON IS THE JENNY BED, LOCATED ABOUT 100 FT ABOVE THE TOP OF THE WEBER QUARTITE, WITHIN THE PARK CITY FORMATION. ANOTHER REPLACEMENT HORIZON WAS DISCOVERED IN 1923 NEAR THE VERY TOP OF THE PARK CITY FORMATION. INDIVIDUAL REPLACEMENT ORE BODIES ARE STRATABOUND WITH BEDDING DIPPING 22 DEGREES TO THE NORTH. EACH ORE BODY IS WITHIN 200 FEET OF 4 MAJOR FISSURES STRIKING NORTHEAST. FISSURES ARE NAMED, FROM NORTH TO SOUTH, THE DALY WEST-DALY-JUDGE, ROLL, MIDDLE, AND BACK VEINS. FISSURE DEPOSITS ARE COINCIDENT WITH THE FOUR VEINS MENTIONED ABOVE. REPLACEMENT ORES VOLUMETRICALLY MORE IMPORTANT
Deposit Discovery Year: LATE 1870'S
