  • GEOL.DESC: LOWER FOOTHILLS SIERRA NEVADA; THICK SEQUENCE OF LAVAS AND PYROCLASTICS AND VARIETY OF INTRUSIVE ROCKS. BOTH TYPES OF IGNEOUS ROCKS ARE IN PART METAMORPHOSED TO LOW GRADE SCHISTS AND GREENSTONES. VOLCANICS USUALLY DIP STEEPLY NE AND A FAIRLY CONSTANT NW STRIKE. SCHISTOSITY WHERE DEVELOPED IS GENERALLY PARALLEL TO NW STRIKE AND NE DIP. LARGEST INTRUSIVE IS AN IRREGULAR SHAPED FELSITE BODY, 1,900 FT. LONG AND 1,500 FT. WIDE. DIKES OF GREENISH - GRAY DIABASE AND DIABASE PORPHYRY CUT THE FELSITE INTRUSIVE AND VOLCANIC ROCKS.

LEVEL, PINCHING OUT AT 240 FT., THIS ORE SHOOT PARALLELS ADJACENT HANGING WALL OF FELSITE INTRUSIVE, IT DIPS TOWARD EAST, PLUNGE 68 SE, PITCH LENGTH 177 FT. SMALLER ORE SHOOTS; SIMILAR IN MODE OF OCCURANCE, SPATIALLY RELATED TO SALIENTS IN HANGING WALL OF FELSITE INTRUSIVE, OR TO FAULTS OR BOTH. THESE SHOOTS REPLACED INTRUSIVE FELSITE IN SHEAR ZONES.
