Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • SEVERAL BELTS OF SCHIST, 50 FT. THICK, STRIKE N20E, DIP STEEPLY WEST. SCHIST PROBABLY DERIVED FROM OLDER SERIES OF BASIC INTRUSIVE ROCK, W/ASSOC. BEDS OF LIMESTONE. THOUGHT THAT DUE TO STRUCTURAL WEAKNESS OF BEDS, THEY BECAME LOCUS FOR SHEARING MOVEMENTS & SUBSEQUENT MINERALIZATION AFTER OR CONTEMPORANEOUS W/INJECTION OF DIKES, WHICH ARE SEVERAL GENERATIONS. SCHIST THOUGHT TO BE METAMORPHASED SEDIMENTS OF ALGONKIAN AGE. OTHERS GROUPED THEM AS PRECAMBRIAN METAMORPHICS, BELIEVING THEM PARTLY IGNEOUS IN ORIGIN. SCHIST IS HIGH IN HORNBLENDE, OCCASIONAL GRAPHITE AND CONSIDERABLE CALCITE PRESENT.
