Comments on the workings information

  • TUNGSTEN OCCURS AS SCHEELITE PODS AND SINGLE CRYSTALS IN A COARSELY CRYSTALLINE MARBLE. THE PROSPECT IS DEVELOPED BY A SHAFT AND OPEN STOPE ABOUT 80 FEET DEEP. THE UPPER PART OF THE DEPOSIT IS REPORTED TO HAVE HAD QUARTZ, STIBNITE AND VALENTINITE (?) ASSOCIATED WITH SCHEELITE, BUT THEWORKINGS AT THE 60-FT LEVEL CONTAIN ONLY SCHEELITE IN THE MARBLE. LIME-SILICATE MINERALS ARE LACKING, AND NO INTRUSIVE BODIES ARE CLOSE TO THE DEPOSIT. PYRITE ALSO HAS BEEN REPORTED, AND A HYDROTHERMAL ORIGIN SEEMS PLAUSIBLE.

Comments on development

  • AREA NOW BEING EXPLORED AND MINED FOR GOLD. MOST OF DRILLING IS EAST OF QUICKTUNG MINE. FIRST LOCATED PRIOR TO 1920.
