  • OPENED 1830. IN 1911 WORKED BY HENRY GARDINER. QUARRY ON TOPO SHEET 1400 FEET LONG NW. TO SE., 400 FEET WIDE NE. TO SW., AND 50 TO 150 FEET DEEP. INTRUSIVE EXTENDS COMPLETELY ACROSS MILLSTONE PROMONTORY, AS BELT 3800 FEET LONG, TRENDING NW., AND 200 TO 250 FEET WIDE. GRANITE MEDIUM TO DARK GRAY, OF EVEN GRAINED GRANITIC FINE TEXTURE. GRANITE SHEETS MOSTLY 2 TO 8 FEET THICK. GNEISS CAP ABOUT 25 FEET THICK ON NE. WALL HAS FOLIATION STRIKE N. 70 DEG. W., DIP 25 DEG. N. 20 DEG. E.;ON SOUTH SHORE GNEISS FOLIATION STRIKE N. 85 DEG. E., DIP STEEP NORTH. SOME PEGMATITES 2 TO 3 FEET THICK. MANY USES FOR STONE. TWO OTHER QUARRY SYMBOLS SHOWN BY GOLDSMITH IN SAME QUARRY, ONE 300 FEET TO SE., OTHER 300 FEET TO ENE.
