  • A 7.6 M (25 FT) DEEP SHAFT WAS SUNK BY THE ROAD SIDE, NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE SMALL TRIBUTARY. A DRIFT, 15.2 M (50 FT) LONG, FOLLOWED THE ORE ZONE ALONG THE STRIKE SOUTHWESTWARD. ANOTHER DRIFT, 16.8 M (55 FT) LONG, WAS DRIVEN NORTHWESTWARD, BUT CALCITE WAS THE ONLY MINERAL FOUND. IN

  • MINE WAS WORKED BY J.ED. GILLETT BEFORE STOSE AND MISER VISITED THE PROPERTY ON SEPT. 7, 1918, BY WHICH TIME 20 TONS OF MANGANESE ORE HAD BEEN SHIPPED. THE MARKETED ORE WAS HAND-PICKED, PLACED IN BAGS, AND THEN HAULED BY WAGON TO HOT SPRINGS, THE SHIPPING POINT. A CARLOAD OF ORE WAS REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN MINED AND SHIPPED IN MARCH, 1919, BY C.G. CHEVALIER. A DRILLHOLE WAS PUT DOWN NEARBY AND REPORTEDLY PASSED THROUGH MANGANESE ORE.

Deposit THE ORE ZONE CONSISTS OF CLAY, CALCITE, PSILOMELANE, AND MANGANITE, AND SEEMED TO PASS DOWNWARD AT A DEPTH OF 7.6 M (25 FT) INTO BARREN COARSELY CRYSTALLINE CALCITE, AND FOLLOWS THE BEDDING OF FINELY LAMINATED LIMESTONE. IN 1982, TWO OPEN CUTS, CAVED TUNNEL AND DUMPS WERE EVIDENT. SITE HAS BEEN RECLAIMED.
