Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Smith (1938) reports bench placers overlie old stream terraces cut in glacial till in lower Cache Creek. Bedrock is probably continentally derived Tertiary sedimentary strata of the Tyonek (?) Formation (Tts) overlain by glacial drift (Qn) (Reed and Nelson, 1980). A northeast-striking, high angle normal fault is mapped crossing Cache Creek about one mile upstream from this site (Reed and Nelson, 1980). No other published descriptive information is available. No data is available on possible production. ? Also see Upper Cache Creek (TL029).
