  • PRINCIPAL MINERAL ASSEMBLAGES: WLFM + MLBD + BSMT + BSMN. ASSOCIATED MINERALS = PYRT + CLCP + ARPR + PYTT + GLEN + SPRL + FLRT + SCLT. SOURCE OF MINERALIZATION APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN THE VOLCANICS WHICH ARE CO-MAGMATIC WITH THE HOST ROCK. OREBODIES CONSISTS OF UPWARD-BRANCHING QUARTZ PIPES WHICH ARE SEVERAL CENTIMETRES TO 6 M ACROSS AND UP TO 200 M HIGH. WOLFRAMITE DISTRIBUTION IS PATCHY AND GENERALLY DECREASES WITH DEPTH (PLIMER, I., 1975).

  • NON-GEOLOGIC CONSTRAINTS ON DEVELOPMENT OR EXPANSION IN 1-5 YRS.: PRICE OF TUNGSTEN IS LIMITING FACTOR. ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT IN MINE: NO. ACTIVE EXPLORATION IN DISTRICT: NO. ASSESSMENT: BY MARCH 1984, PAYABLE UNDERGROUND ORE HAD RUN OUT. SINCE THAT DATE PLANT HAS BEEN TREATING ELUVIUM. AS THE PRICE OF TUNGSTEN IMPROVES FURTHER UNDERGROUND EXPLORATION WILL TAKE PLACE. IT IS BELIEVED ONLY ABOUT 25 M OF DRIVING IS NECESSARY TO CUT ANOTHER PIPE.
