| Deposit | IN 1930'S MOST OF PLACER MINING ACTIVITY IN DISTRICT WAS CONCENTRATED IN DUN GLEN, BARBER, & SPAULDING CANYONS. NUMEROUS SHAFTS WERE SUNK IN DUN GLEN CANYON TO TEST THE GRAVEL; SHAFTS ARE 18 TO 40 FEET DEEP & REACH BEDROCK. IT WAS REPORTED THAT 5 TO 6 FEET OF GRAVEL LYING ABOVE THE BEDROCK CARRIED ABOUT $2-$3 M GOLD PER CUBIC YARD AT PRICE OF $20.67 PER OUNCE. A DRYLAND DREDGE WORKED A SHORT TIME IN DUN GLEN CANYON IN 1931. FORTUNE COOKIE MINE HAS BEEN LISTED AS AN ACTIVE OPERATING MINE SINCE 1980. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV |
