CREEK DRAINS AREA WITH LODE SCHEELITE IN CONTACT METAMORPHOSED LIMESTONE AND GOLD-BEARING QUARTZ VEINS NEAR PORPHYRITIC GRANITE INTRUSIVE BODY. VALLEY FLOOR AT MOUTH IS ABOUT 1,000 FT. WIDE, NARROWING RAPIDLY UPSTREAM. ; MAJOR.UNITS: BEDROCK IS MAINLY QUARTZ-MICA SCHIST, MUCH OF IT IS CARBONACEOUS.

Deposit THIS SITE NAME WAS CREATED BY THE REPORTER OR OTHER USGS EMPLOYEE BASED ON PROXIMITY TO SOME MAJOR GEOGRAPHIC FEATURE.
Deposit GOLD IN STREAM PLACER AND IN BENCH PLACER TO NORTH OF CREEK. GOLD, SOME INTERGROWN WITH BISMUTH, IN LOWER 2 FT. OF GRAVEL, ON BEDROCK, AND IN CRACKS IN TOP 3 TO 4 FT OF BEDROCK. ALLUVIUM 50 TO 60 FT. THICK AT MOUTH AND A FEW FEET THICK AT HEAD. MOST OF ALLUVIUM IS MUCK. BENCH TO NORTH OF CREEK MINED IN AT LEAST 3 PLACES. PAYSTREAK 30 TO 40 FT. WIDE, BUT IN PLACES IT ATTAINS A WIDTH OF 100 FT. ABUNDANT PLACER SCHEELITE.
