  • GEOL.DESC: CONCENTRATION OF 10 % GRADE MANGANESE OXIDE (MAINLY PSILOMELANE) IN LATERITIC SOILS BENEATH TERTIARY LAVA CAP. RHYOLITE TUFF AND CLAY ARE AT BASE OF LAVA CAP, AND BELOW THIS IS A DEEP REGOLITHIC BRECCIA OR RESIDUAL SOIL. THE MANGANESE OXIDES OCCUR AS COATINGS, PATCHES, AND CEMENT MIXED WITH CLAY.

  • ASSAYS ARE SAID TO RUN OVER 40 PERCENT MANGANESE, BUT WHILE THIS MIGHT BE TRUE OF AN INDIVIDUAL SMALL SPECIMENT THE MATERIAL IN SIGHT WOULD PROBABLY RUN LESS THAN 10 PERCENT MANGANESE. NO SOLID BED OF MANGANESE ORE WAS SEEN AND DEPOSIT IS SUPERFICIAL. CLAIM IN AN ABANDONED HYDRAULIC GOLD PROPERTY - SAME AS BIG GULCH LATERITIC SOIL IS NEARBY, CONTAINING HEMATITE, LIMONITE, AND ANAUXITE
