  • ABOUT 35,000 TONS OF 85-98% BASO4 SHIPPED PRIOR TO 1930. BETWEEN 1919 AND 1930 WAS AN IMPORTANT PRODUCER, AND DURING MOST OF THAT TIME WAS THE LARGEST SOURCE OF BARITE IN THE STATE. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. SOME PRODUCTION IN 1960; TOTAL OUTPUT 10,000 TO 100,000 TONS.

Deposit THE ORE OF COMMERCIAL GRADE (SHOWING IN PART AS MUCH AS 98% BASO4) PASSES INTO AN IMPURE BARIUM-ALUMINUM SILICATE ROCK; THE BARITES VARIES IN COLOR FROM PINK OR GREY TO BLACK AND IS NEARLY ALL SLIGHTLY "OFF-COLOR" WHEN GROUND AND REQUIRES CHEMICAL TREATMENT. COMPRISES 20 ACRES.
