  • GEOL.DESC: SHALY BLACK OXIDE ORE BED 1 1/2 FT. THICK IS ENCLOSED IN MASSIVE RED AND WHITE CHERT, WHICH IS INTERBEDDED IN THIN-BEDDED RED AND GRAY TO GREEN SHALY CHERT AND SHALE. ORE BED STRIKES E TO N 45 E, DIPS 45 TO 60 N. W., AND IS LOCALLY WARPED AND WRINKLED. THE BED PINCHES AND SWELLS FROM 1 TO 2 FT. THICK, AND CONSISTS OF BLACK OXIDE, THE HARD PSILOMELANE TYPE AND SOFT BLACK OXIDE. IT CONTAINS PATCHES OF LIMONITE STAINED CELLULAR SILICA.
