Comments on the geologic information

  • ORE IN SOUTH EDGE OF SMALL ROOF PENDANT IN GRANODIORITE, AS LENSES COMPOSED OF GARNET AND EPIDOTE ASSOCIATED WITH QUARTZ AND LIMONITE. SCHEELITE OCCURS AS DISSEMINATED CRYSTALS UP TO 2 1/2 INCHES, WITH MALACHITE STAINING. TWO BODIES OF TACTITE IN THE STEEPLY DIPPING CAL-SILICATE HORNFELS, ONE 250 FEET LONG WITH MAX WIDTH OF 30 FEET AT THE CENTER DIVIDING INTO LAYERS THAT LENS OUT. SCHEELITE IS UNEVENLY DISTRIBUTED SOME BANDS 1-2 FEET WIDE WITH MORE THAN 1% WO3, AVERAGE CONTENT IS 4% WO4. THE SECOND TACTITE BODY, 220 FEET LONG, AVERAGE 20 FEET WIDE, WITH LOW WO3 CONTENT.

Comments on development

  • ORIGINALLY DEVELOPED FOR COPPER, BUT PROVED TO BE OF LOW ECONOMIC VALUE. MINED INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL 1961. RECENTLY STAKED BY PBC MINING CO. (1984) . TUNGSTEN MINERALIZATION WAS DISCOVERED ABOUT 1917 AND THE PROPERTY WAS CONTROLLED BY GOLD, SILVER,AND TUNGSTEN, -INC, THE OWNER OF THE NIGHTINGALE MINE. IN 1944 IT WAS ACQUIRE-D BY RARE METALS CORP.AND DURING 1944-1955, SEVERAL THOUSAND T-ONS OF ORE WERE MINED AND CONCENTRATED AT THE TOULON MILL, MOS-T OF WHICH WAS MINED FROM AN OPEN PIT

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit Discovery Year: WWI
Deposit SHAFTS ON TOP OF HILL ALONG PARALLEL NW-STRIKING VEINS ASSOCIATED WITH FISSURE-FILLING VEIN SYSTEMS POSSIBLY ALONG- JOINT SETS. COPPER MINERALS AND URANIUM OCCUR ALONG STRIKE OF- VEINS. ZONE OF STRONGEST CU-U MINERALIZATION WAS REPORTED TO -BE 300-400 FT WEST OF MAIN OPEN PIT, WHERE A REMNANT OF AULD L-ANG SYNE SEDIMENTS IS PRESERVED AS A ROOF PENDANT. THE ZONES O-F STRONGEST MINERALIZATION ARE THOSE WHICH ARE THE MOST CALCAR-EOUS. THREE SAMPLES FROM THE NURE PROGRAM ASSAYED BETWEEN 144 -AND 334 PPM U; THESE SAMPLES CAME FROM CALCAREOUS SEDIMENTS. S-AMPLE 2864 IS FROM THE CONTACT-TYPE DEPOSIT OF TACTITE . URANIUM IS SPOTTY WITH HIGH-GRADE INDIVIDUAL PIECES, BUT MINING WOULD LOWER ORE GRADE BELOW ECONOMIC LEVELS
