Comments on the production information

  • RECOVERY INCLUDES THE AMOUNT OF MGO ADDED BY THE DOLIME.
  • CHEMICAL GRADE MGO ("LIGHT-BURNED") = 48 MT PERICLASE ("DEAD-BURNED") = 46 MT TOTAL DAILY PRODUCTION MGO = 94 MT ABOUT HALF OF THE MGO PRODUCTS CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE DOLIME. PRODUCES MAGNESIA FROM SEAWATER AT CAPACITY OF 50,000 MT OF MGO EQUIVALENT.
  • PRODUCTION FIGURES REPRESENT THE COMBINED ANNUAL PRODUCTION OF PERICLASE AND CHEMICAL GRADE MAGNESIA CONVERTED TO METRIC TONS. INFORMATION WAS OBTAINED FROM THE U.S. BUMINES PRODUCTION STATISTICS. 1959 REPRESENTS THE INITIAL YEAR OF PRODUCTION BY THE ORIGINAL OPERATOR, MICHIGAN CHEMICAL CORPORATION.

Comments on other economic factors

  • CHEMICAL GRADE MAGNESIA IS SOLD F.O.B.. PERICLASE IS CONSUMED INTERNALLY BY C. E. BASIC.
  • ABOUT 130 MTD OF DOLIME AT 39.4 % MGO IS ALSO FED TO THE PLANT AS A REAGENT.
  • WORKING CAPITAL = 90 DAYS OP. COST. MILL OPERATING COST INCREASED BY 30 PERCENT AFTER 15 YEARS TO ACCOMMODATE HIGHER MAINTENANCE COSTS.
