Comments on the location information

  • Split 2 separate bodies more than 5 miles apart into 2 MRDS records even though they are described together in Bull. 50.

Commodities

Commodity Importance
Bentonite Primary

Comments on the commodity information

  • Erroneously coded as beryl, not bentonite. ABWilson changed commodity to bentonite as described in Bull. 50, p. 14. There are no beryl deposits in this region in Bull. 50. The section, township, range description fits the bentonite description in Bull. 50, p. 14. Geologically, bentonite makes sense to be here in Mowry Fm.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit Seams of bentonite up to 2 feet thick occur in the Mowry shale. The dips of these beds range from 10 to 74 degrees, resulting in narrow outcrops and excessive overburden.
