Deposit THE FERROTEPEC RESOURCES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DEPLETED IN 1985 OR 1986. AT THAT TIME THE OPERATIONS WILL MOVE TO OTHER OREBODIES, BEGINNING WITH EL VOLCAN AND EL MANGO. BENEFICIATION AT FERROTEPEC IS BY LOW INTENSITY MAGNETIC, HOWEVER THE MILL WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO BE ALTERED SINCE THE NEW ORE WOULD BE LARGELY HEMATITIC. THE MINE IS INTEGRATED INTO THE LAZARO GARDENAS PELLET AND STEEL COMPLEX. THE COMPLEX IN 198O HAD A CAPACITY OF 1.8 AND 1.2 MILLION MT OF PELLETS AND STEEL, RESPECTIVELY. AT THAT TIME THE COMPANY WAS PLANNING TO EXPAND THE STEEL CAPACITY TO 2 MILLION MT/YR,WITH A COMPARABLE INCREASE IN PELLET CAPACITY. ALL COSTS SHOWN IN THE DATA BASE ARE ESTIMATED FOR THE PURPOSE OF AVAILABILITY ANALYSIS. PELLET PLANT OPERATING COSTS ARE ESTIMATED AT $7.84/MT(1981 US$).
