Comments on other economic factors

  • THE BEACH SAND DEPOSITS ASSOCIATED WITH SAI-LAO PROCESSING PLANT ARE MINED EXCLUSIVELY BY FARMER COMMUNES. THEY MINE SAND BY HAND CONTAINING 2-3% HEAVY MINERALS BY WEIGHT AND RUN IT THROUGH A WOODEN SLUICE TO SEPARATE HEAVY MINERALS, DRY IT ON A CONCRETE YARD, THEN RAKE THE HEAVY MINERALS FOR BAGGING IN 30 - 35 KILO BAGS FOR SHIPPING TO SAI-LAO THROUGH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENTS BY METHOD OF TRUCK OR JUNK (DISTANCES OF SEVERAL KILOMETERS TO EIGHTY KILOMETERS).
