Comments on the production information

  • HANDSORTING INCREASES GRADE FROM 10 TO 30% CARBON. RECOVERY IS ASSUMED TO BE 95% FOR PURPOSES OF MASS BALANCE.
  • MILL OP. COSTS INCLUDED IN MINE OP. COSTS. NO CAPITAL COST FOR THIS HANDSORTING OPERATION. THE PRODUCT FROM HANDSORTING IS GRAPHITIC ORE THAT HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO ABOUT 30% CARBON.

  • THIS DEPOSIT IS INCLUDED IN GRAPHITE AVAILABILITY REPORT AS AN EXAMPLE OF GRAPHITE DEPOSIT USING UNDERGROUND MINING METHOD.

Comments on other economic factors

  • ACQUISITION WOULD BE BY FEDERAL LEASE AT AN UNKNOWN, BUT PROBABLY LOW, COST. EXPLORATION COSTS ARE ASSUMED TO BE NEGLIGIBLE AS THE OREBODY GEOMETRY IS FAIRLY WELL KNOWN. THERE IS NO MINE OR MILL EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT BECAUSE OF THE SHORT MINE LIFE. MILL P&E AND MILL OP. COSTS REFER ONLY TO ORE FROM YONG-UN, AND ARE SHOWN IN THE PYONG-TAEK DATABASE. THE MILL WORKING CAPITAL FOR YONG-UN IS ALSO SHOWN ON THE PYONG-TAEK DATABASE. THEREFORE, THIS DATABASE INCLUDES NO MILL CAPITAL OR OPERATING COSTS. THE HANDSORTING COST IS INCLUDED IN THE MINE OP. COST BECAUSE IT WOULD BE PERFORMED BY THE MINERS.

Deposit THE YONG-UN (Y-U) AND PYONG-TAEK (P-T) MINES WILL BOTH FEED THE P-T MILL. THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTION SHOWS THE RELA- TIONSHIP BETWEEN THESE TWO PROPERTIES: IN 1982, THE P-T MILL WILL HANDLE ONLY 13,400 MT OF ORE FROM THE P-T MINE. THE Y-U MINE AND "MILL" WILL BE UNDERGOING PREPRODUCTION DEVELOPMENT IN 1982. IN 1983, Y-U WILL PRODUCE 14,800 MT OF ORE WHICH WILL BE HAND- SORTED TO PRODUCE 4700 MT OF PRODUCT (AT 30% CARBON) THAT WILL BE SHIPPED TO THE P-T MILL FOR FURTHER PROCES- SING. IN 1983, P-T WILL INCREASE ITS MILL FEED TO 15,000 MTPY. IN 1984, THE P-T MINE WILL AGAIN INCREASE ITS MILL FEED TO 30,000 MTPY. IN 1990, THE Y-U DEPOSIT WILL MINE OUT, AND ALL FEED TO THE P-T MILL WILL AGAIN COME FROM THE P-T MINE AT A RATE OF 30,000 MTPY UNTIL FINAL MINEOUT IN 2016. THE DATABASE FOR Y-U WILL ONLY REFLECT COSTS DIRECTLY RELATED TO MINING OR HANDSORTING OF Y-U ORE. ALL COSTS RELATED TO MILLING OF Y-U ORE ARE SHOWN IN THE P-T DATABASE (BOTH CAPITAL AND OPERATING). HANDSORTING COSTS AT Y-U ARE INCLUDED IN THE Y-U MINE OP. COST.
