OWNERSHIP DATA KNOWN ONLY FOR LOT 266 REC 040 DEP IS 6 MI NE OF CARTERSVILLE NEAR THE INTERCHANGE OF INTERSTATE 75 & US 411. THE PROPERTY IS JUST SOUTH OF OR IS TR BY I-75. MAX AREA DIST. CALCULATED AS 1.5 THAT OF SUR MININ (REC 702) RECORD 050/ PROPERTY EXAMINED AND SAMPLED BY PIERCE (1943) A BUR. OF MINES (1950), AND ONEILL (1954). OF CUT SHOWED 12.9% MN, 2.7% FE, 0.11% PHOSPHORUS. A SAMPLE FROM THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE CUT CONTAINED 5.4% MN, 6.0% FE, 0.08% P. HAND PICKED SAMPLE (N. SIDE OF CUT) CONTAINED 35% MN, 2.0% F 703) REC 080 ORE OCCURS AS FRACTURE FILLING IN A BRECCIATED SILI ZONE OF DOLOMITE OF THE LOWER ROME FM. MN OX AND CHERT ARE INTIMATELY ASSOCIATED SO THAT CRUSHING AND JIGGING WOULD BE NECESSARY. WESTERN PART OF THE DEPOSIT CONTAINS CONSIDERABLE HALLOYSITE. IT ENCRUSTS AND FILLS CAVITIES IN THE ORE AND ADHERES TIGHTLY TO THE MN. IT IS ONLY PARTLY REMOVED BY LOG WASHING. THERE APPEARS TO BE A CLAY OVERBURDEN THAT CONTAINS SOME ORE NODULES OR FRAG. MIN ZONE MAY EXTEND 1000 FT NE OF PIT WHERE ORE IS OBSERVED. DUMP OF A SHAFT (REC 703) NOT ENOUGH DATA TO RECORD OTHER MI DIMENSIONS. REC 600-615 RESERVE DATA FROM REC 700 WHICH ESTIMATES THAT IS 15,000 LBS OF COBALT IN THE DEPOSIT AND THAT THERE IS 1.5% CO CONCENTRATES. DEPOSIT MAY AT LEAST IN PART BE TRAVERSED BY INTERSTATE 75. THE WARD, GEMES & MCCOLLUM PROPERTIES IN NW GEORGIA AND THE OAK MINE OF SE TENN.COMBINED ARE ESTIMATED TO CONTAIN 7000 T MN OXIDES WITH 0.75% - 1.25% CO OR ABOUT 140,000 LBS OF COBA 704 P 270)
