THE MANGANESE, SILICON, & OXYGEN THEN VAPORIZED AS ATOMS WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY RECOMBINE TO FORM SIO2 AS THE VAPORS COOL. THE CONDENSED MATERIAL, WHICH IS RECOVERED IN A DUST COLLECTOR, IS THEN TREATED BY HYDROMETAL LURGICAL METHODS. THIS PROCESS HAS NOT PROCEEDED SIGNIFICAN BEYOND BENCH-SCALE EXPERIMENTS AND THE DEVELOPMENT TIME FOR COMMERCIALLY USABLE VAPOMETALLURGICAL PROCESS WOULD BE EXCES AN EMERGENCY SITUATION REQUIRED THE USE OF DOMESTIC RAW MATE ADDITIONALLY, THIS PROCESS DOES NOT APPEAR TECHNICALLY OR ECONOMICALLY ATTRACTIVE ENOUGH TO PROVIDE INCENTIVE FOR FURT RESEARCH OR DEVELOPMENT (REFERENCE RECORDS 731-734, P. 40) RECORD 040, COLUMNS 65-69/ MAXIMUM AREA POTENTIALLY DISTURBE EQUAL TO THE DEPOSIT AREA (266 HECTARES) PLUS 20 HECTARES.
