Deposit 1994 ADIT UPDATE: MINE CLOSED IN OCTOBER 1994. REMAINING GOLD CONTAINED IN DUMPS WILL BE PROCESSED BY EARLY 1995 AND MILL WILL BE CLOSED IN 1995. RECLAIMATION WILL CONTINUE THROUGH 1996 WHEN FINAL DECOMMISS- IONING OF LEACH PAD #2 IS SCHEDUALED TO START. GOLD WILL STILL BE RECOVERED THROUGH 1995. THE RESERVES GIVEN IN ADIT ARE GIVEN IN THE MINING RECORD, 3/24/93, P. 1. THE ARTICLE ALSO GAVE A NEW PRODUCTION FIGURE 16,330 MT/D TOTAL ROCK WITH A STRIP RATIO REPORTED OF 2:1 WASTE TO ORE. THE COVINGTON AND MOOSEHEAD PITS ARE BEING MINED. THE GOLDSTRIKE DEPOSIT IS A LOW-GRADE, DISSEMINATED GOLD DEPOSIT FOUND ALONG THE BASAL SANDSTONE AND CONGLOMERTIC SANDSTONE MEMBER OF THE EOCENE AGE CLARON FORMATION. PALEOZOIC LIME- STONES, DOLOMITES, SHALES AND QUARTZITES ARE OVERLAIN BY A THE FRESH-WATER SEDIMENTARY SEQUENCE OF THE CLARON FORMATION. THE PALEOZOIC ROCKS ARE HIGHLY DEFORMED BY FOLDING, THRUST FAULTING, AND HIGH-ANGLE FAULTING. THESE HIGH-ANGLE FAULTS APPEAR TO BE THE SOURCE OF THE HYDROTHERMAL SOLUTIONS. WHEN THE HYDROTHEMAL SOLUTIONS, MIGRATING UP THE FAULTS REACHED THE CONTACT OF THE PALEOZOICS AND THE BASAL CLARON CONGLOMERATE, THE SOLUTIONS MOVE LATERALLY ALONG THE CONTACT AND DEPOSITED THE GOLD AND SILVER ALONG WITH THE SILICA GANGUE. ANOMALOUS AMOUNTS OF ARSENIC, ANTIMONY, AND MERCURY OCCUR WITH THE GOLD.
