  • VEIN MINERALIZATION IN THE FINE-GRAINED CAMBRIAN LIMESTONES CONSISTS OF FLUORSPAR, QUARTZ AND BARITE, WITH MINERALIZATION OF LIMITED DIMENSIONS ALSO FOUND IN KARST POCKETS AND PSEUDO-STRATA. CONTACT MINERALIZATION CONTAINS EPIDOTE, GARNET, LEAD, ZINC AND COPPER SULFIDES. IN THE PERDA NIEDDA MINE AREA MINERALIZATION IS MAINLY FLUORSPAR AND IRON SULFIDES, WITH ZONATION OF FERROUS ALTERATION INTO CHARACTERISTIC OXIDES (LIMONITE, HEMATITE, ETC), PLUS MAGNETITE WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN DERIVED FROM REDUCTION OF HEMATITE OR METASOMATISM OF THE SKARNS OF THE CONTACT ZONE.
  • FLUORITE IS FOUND IN VEINS, CONTACT ZONES AND AS LIMESTONE REPLACEMENTS.

  • THERE HAVE BEEN OBSERVATIONS THAT SOME SITES MAY BE PROMISING FOR PRODUCING METALLURGICAL GRAVEL FLUROSPAR HIGH IN IRON, BUT THIS HAS NOT BEEN OF INTEREST TO THE COMPANY.
  • IT HAS BEEN ASSUMED THAT CONCENTRATES WILL BE TRUCKED TO CAGLIARI. ALTERNATIVELY, THEY COULD BE TRANSPORTED BY RAIL FROM DOMUSNOVAS, BUT THE INCREASED HANDLING CHARGES WOULD PROBABLY OFFSET THE ASSUMED LOWER RAIL COST. TRANSPORTATION COSTS ARE IN 1983 DOLLARS.
