Deposit PLANT "MUST" COVER OVER 300 ACRES. *A CONTACT PROCESS SULFURIC ACID PLANT IS ON SITE. *BAYER OWNS AND OPERATES DOCKS ON THE RHEIN RIVER. *PLANT IS SERVED BY A SPUR OF THE DEUTSCHES BUNDES RR. *PLANT HAS NO ACCOMMODATIONS FOR PLANT PERSONNEL. *TARIFFS ON TIO2 PIGMENT ARE 6-7% OF IMPORT VALUE. *IT WAS REPORTED THAT THERE WAS A CHLORIDE PROCESS PLANT AT THE SITE. SRI THINKS VERY LITTLE CHLORIDE PIGMENT WAS PRODUCED. BAYER AG TRANSFERRED 40% OF ITS TIO2 PIGMENT PRODUCTION FROM IS SULPHATE PLANT AT ANTWERP, BELGIUM TO ITS UERDINGEN PLANT. THIS INCREASE IN PRODUCTION WAS EFFECTIVE JAN. 1 1994.
